Surgical Technique

The Lateral Ulnar Collateral Ligament is one of the four ligaments that make up the Lateral Collateral Complex of the elbow. This ligament originates at the lateral epicondyle of the humerus and inserts at the supinator crest of the ulna, and it plays a vital role in posterior lateral stability of the joint. The ligament can become detached from the lateral epicondyle insertion site upon dislocation of the elbow or excessive valgus force resulting in surgical repair¹. The Lateral Ulnar Collateral Ligament can be repaired by placing an anchor, such as TruShot™ with Y-Knot^®, into the lateral epicondyle of the humerus. Next, sutures can be passed through the proximal end of the LUCL and reattached to the original lateral epicondyle insertion site.
