In its efforts to expose medical students to the latest technology and innovation, Medhold hosted twenty 6th Year (final) Medical students from Wits University to test drive the Fourth Generation da Vinci Xi system.
As minimally invasive care expands through robotic-assisted surgery with da Vinci systems in South Africa, Medhold understands the important role it plays in supporting the educational mission in academia and is making the technology accessible to students through simulation for learning and education. The utilization of robotic-assisted surgery after graduation is growing rapidly worldwide and Medhold is proud to be part of this important mission to expose the surgeons of tomorrow to some of the best technology in the world.
The da Vinci SimNow is an all-inclusive simulator supporting hospitals and programs utilizing da Vinci systems. It features pre-built and customizable curricula based on the surgeon’s profile. The 6th Year medical students participated in a simulation competition where two winners, Talil Bolel and Romay Desmore, got the highest score on the da Vinci simulator. Congratulations to the group of students that participated in the da Vinci test drive day at the Medhold facilities.
